A kitchen fire suppression system plays a crucial role in ensuring safety within your kitchen environment. Automatically activated upon fire detection, it effectively manages and extinguishes fires in their initial stages. Typically installed above specific appliances such as cookers and deep fat fryers, these systems are designed to target potential fire sources.
Activation of the system can occur through two methods: a heat link or a manual pull switch. Heat links are affixed to wires that break under extreme temperatures, prompting the suppression system to engage. Once a fire is confirmed, the nozzles positioned above the affected appliance release a wet chemical extinguishing agent.
Specifically formulated for Class F fires, typically caused by cooking oil, this suppressant—often a potassium solution—forms a protective layer over the burning material, depriving it of oxygen. Additionally, the gas line supplying the appliance is disconnected, depriving the fire of fuel.
